While production stopped early last year on the Land Rover Defender, the Special Vehicle Operations(SVO) team is reportedly considering a hardcore Defender SVX.
Right now the concept is rumoring across multiple auto news networks with hints that the vehicle will be coming to market in the next few years.
Drivers are already getting excited about what Land Rover has in store for the reinvented SVX.
Gerry McGovern, the design head at Land Rover feels that the “ultimate capability machine is the Defender”.
The new Discovery badge will fit right in with the outgoing Defender, filling the void until the Defender SVX is formally announced. The Discovery SVX not only boasts off-road elegance but is backed by the go-anywhere, do-anything durability.
The SVX badge is affixed to the vehicle is a symbol of excellence as the SVO team takes all terrain driving seriously. From the concept that Jaguar Land Rover revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt auto show, the Discovery SVX concept will be coming to production in 2018.
While specific details on the new Defender are still unknown, the Special Vehicle Operations dedicated their efforts to make sure the Discovery SVX had extreme off-road capabilities.
We can only expect the Defender to follow suit and be packed with off-road features and rugged design.
The concept for the Discovery SVX includes Land Rover’s exclusive Terrain Response system, anti-roll system secured on hydraulics and driving mode selection. It is also fitted with 20 inch, 275/55 Wrangler all terrain tires and under the hood is the supercharged 5.0 liter V8 engine.
The proposed Defender will have a premium edge on the market with the SVX badge backing the durability. Chances are, we could even see an electric or hybrid version of the Defender.
