There is a new kid on the block in the Land Rover lineup, and this kid packs quite a big punch. The high- performance and highly intimidating Range Rover Sport SVR is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and in the film below, Mike Cross, who is the Chief Engineer of Vehicle Integrity at Jaguar Land Rover, demonstrates the true capability of the fastest and most powerful Land Rover to date.
Mike explains how the SVR’s sophisticated drivetrain and advanced four-wheel drive chassis technology deliver incomparable high speed handling characteristics as he races around the infamous Rockingham circuit in the United Kingdom.
The 550 horsepower SVR (Special Vehicle Racing), was given birth by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team and accelerates with its impressive 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from 0-60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds. This beast of an SUV also boasts a top track speed of 162 mph. The SVR gets its extra muscle from a recalibrated ECU, more boost from the supercharger, and larger intakes for the intercoolers.
The exclusive Estoril Blue paint and the new front and rear fascias demonstrate impeccable style as well as a highly aggressive stance. The rest of the chassis remains closely related to the regular Sport Supercharged, but it has been thoroughly recalibrated. The magnetorheological shocks, active roll control, brake-based torque vectoring, air suspension, and limited-slip differential are all retuned for maximum performance.
John Edwards, Managing Director of Land Rover Special Operations, said: “The Range Rover Sport SVR is a natural progression beyond the core vehicle’s outstanding on- and off-road capabilities and leading-edge design. It’s exhilarating performance will satisfy a particularly demanding customer set.”
