Land Rover BAR Team is Ready to Win

It is finally here! It is time for the Land Rover BAR Sailing Team to compete for the America’s Cup! The Land Rover BAR Team is led by Sir Ben Ainslie, and they are more ready than ever to compete and take home the cup!

Located in Bermuda, the America’s Cup sailing competition features teams that have analyzed data, designed specialized equipment, and pushed boundaries. This year’s competition is sure to be thrilling to watch. The teams can reach speeds of over 60mph with boats that literally fly above the surface of the water.

The Land Rover BAR team and Land Rover have been working together for two years to design the boat the team will be using. Land Rover’s engineers and designers have thought through every scenario, designed a steering wheel using Human Machine Interface technologies, and implemented e-ink display screens. The Land Rover BAR team is definitely capable of bringing home the oldest trophy in international sport competition.

The America’s Cup qualifying rounds started May 26. One of six teams will be eliminated before the playoffs begin on June 4.

New Discovery: Now Available!

The United States campaign includes media partnerships with The New York Times, Travel Channel, and CNN’s “Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown,” as well as other activities. A 30-second television commercial featuring the Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR) sailing team gets the campaign started.

In the television commercial, titled ‘Serenity in the Storm,’ the Land Rover BAR team travels from desert sand to the ocean while utilizing the all-new Land Rover Discovery’s luxury features.

“It was a great opportunity to work with Land Rover, especially for the launch of the Discovery, which is a fantastic vehicle inside and out,” Jake Scott, television commercial director, said. “I loved the idea of capturing the camaraderie between Ben Ainslie and his sailing crew in the midst of an epic sandstorm.”

Ellie Goulding Debuts Range Rover Velar

The all-new Range Rover Velar has officially made its United States debut! The Range Rover Velar debuted at a live performance on April 11 by British pop superstar Elli Goulding at Hearst Plaza, Lincoln Center in New York. The show was set to reveal the all-new Range Rover Velar before it would be auctioned off at the East Side House Settlement Annual Gala later that week.

“I have always been a big Range Rover fan, and it was a pleasure to be a part of its launch here in the US,” Goulding said. “Even more rewarding to be supporting a local charity that improves over 10,000 lives every year in one of my favorite cities.”

The auction took place on April 13 before the start of the 2017 New York International Auto Show. It is only fitting that the all-new Range Rover Velar be auctioned off in New York since the New York-Metropolitan area is the world’s largest Range Rover market. The winner of the auction will be able to be one of the first customers to have an all-new Range Rover Velar delivered.

The benefactor of the proceeds from the gala is the East Side House Settlement. This non-profit organization serves the Bronx and north ManhattaLandn by providing social services and education. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC was proud to serve as the sole sponsor for the gala for the second time. In 2016, a First Edition Jaguar F-PACE was auctioned off for $101,000. Nearly $500,000 was raised to support the East Side House Settlement.

The all-new Range Rover Velar, and fourth member of the Range Rover family, was designed to fill the space between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. It is now available to be ordered and is expected to be available for deliveries to the United States late summer 2017.
