Above and Beyond – SVAutobiography

Land Rover decided to use the 2015 New York Auto Show to debut its new flagship Range Rover, named the SV Autobiography. Available in standard or LWB form, the SVA will become the most powerful, luxurious and expensive series-production Range Rover ever created.auto2

Forged at the Special Vehicle Operations’ Technical Centre in the UK, the SVAutobiography features unique exterior design enhancements, an exclusive premium leather interior with unique trim finishes and the option of a 550 HP 5-liter V8 supercharged engine for the first time.

John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations stated that “Range Rover SVAutobiography epitomizes sophisticated design. Our most luxurious specification yet, this vehicle has been crafted with precision and care, culminating in exquisite attention to detail.”

The long-wheelbase-only SV also inherits a new exhaust system with “a subtly enriched engine note,” Brembo front brake calipers, and a new front grille featuring a Graphite Atlas finish and polished chrome garnishes.   The combination of the Santorini Black upper body and nine color choices for the lower body create total distinction and individualism.

Rear-seat passengers relax in luxurious seating complete with a chiller compartment and powered deployable tables, and there is the option of a sliding loadspace floor made from aluminum and a choice of veneer options.  The floor extends rearwards to optimize practicality and ease of use for loading and unloading. The interior is stocked with high-end monitors and the floorboards are granted with deep twist pile mohair carpet mats. 20-way power front seats and a 1700-watt, 29-speaker Meridian sound system is also fitted in the SV.auto

The 550 horsepower supercharged V8 is Land Rovers most powerful engine to date, and has been engineered and optimized for absolute comfort and refinement.  With maximum torque available at 3,500-4,000 rpm and a smooth and sophisticated ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, the SVAutobiography provides the perfect blend of power, performance and in-gear flexibility.

Unfortunately the SVAutobiography will not be available for Land Rover customers to purchase, but the good news is that Land Rover Frisco still has a plethora of incredible new and pre-owned luxury SUVs to choose from.   We invite you to stop by to take one of our award-winning vehicles for a test climb today!

6-Millionth Land Rover!

All of us here at Land Rover Frisco are thoroughly thrilled as well as amazed, as the celebration of the 6,000,000th production Land Rover has officially begun!china

The completion of a Yulong White Range Rover LWB Vogue SE on April 2nd saw our parent company hit a manufacturing milestone and is currently being featured at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show.  The 6,000,000th vehicle was built at Land Rover’s Solihull facility, where the company has been producing its world-famous SUVs since 1948.

This landmark Land Rover is proudly showcasing its bespoke puddle lamp graphic to signify its unique status.  The illuminated graphic, which is the width of a grain of rice, is projected through a magnifying lens onto the ground every time the vehicle is unlocked in an image which is 80cm in diameter. This same graphic was projected on to the wall of the Solihull manufacturing facility to mark the moment when the 6,000,000th vehicle rolled off the production line.

Andy Goss, Director, Group Sales Operations, Jaguar Land Rover, said: “For 67 years Land Rover has been building the world’s most capable all-purpose vehicles.  Over this period, a range of ground-breaking innovations and technologies have blended great design, refinement and unmatched all-terrain capability.

“It’s fitting that the 6,000,000th Land Rover to be produced is a Range Rover, since this year marks the 45thanniversary of the original Range Rover’s launch and even today, the vehicle remains peerless. With the growth of sales in China since the latest version of the Range Rover was introduced in 2012, it is entirely appropriate that this landmark vehicle is destined for a Chinese customer.”china2

Ultimately this exceptional Range Rover will be sold in the region and its specially commissioned puddle lamps will serve as a permanent reminder of the significance of this unique model in Land Rover’s history.

On a side note – of the 6,000,000 Land Rovers produced, more than 900,000 are Range Rovers and the iconic luxury SUV is the first car to have been displayed at the world-famous Louvre museum in Paris, where it was cited as an “exemplary work of industrial design”.    Now honestly, how can you beat that?

The Missing Link

Well there is some good news for all you Evoque lovers out there with slightly larger families, as it looks as though the Range Rover crossover will now be featuring seating for seven!

The all new Evoque is set to be the “missing link” between the current Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, and has been rumored to be unveiled towards the end of 2016.plus

The “Evoque Plus” has been spotted on British roads in recent weeks wearing what looks like a stretched Evoque body and a fully mocked-up nose and radiator intake.   Entry-level models will be powered by turbocharged versions of the four-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel engines, with the top-end models receiving an upgraded V6.

Last year, Land Rover design chief Gerry McGovern first hinted that the company was working on expanding the Range Rover brand with what he described as “incredibly luxurious, low-slung” Range Rovers.

The suggestion was that such a model would be geared more towards on-road performance but would still be capable of off road and cross-country driving thanks to a new height-adjustable air suspension system and a range of electronic traction control systems.plus 2

An EV version of the new Evoque is also expected to become Range Rover’s first full electric vehicle, as Jaguar Land Rover engineering chief Wolfgang Zeibart dropped a hint about the EV project last year when he spoke about the potential of a “pure electric vehicle.”
