Land Rover Frisco in Frisco, Texas would like to give a rousing round of applause to the GREAT Britain Team who were given a spirited welcome as they safely and victoriously returned home to St. Katharine Docks in London last month after a long and grueling race.
Land Rover is proud to be an official team partner of the GREAT Britain entry in the Clipper 2013-14 Round the World Yacht Race, which departed from London’s iconic Tower Bridge on the first of September 2013 to compete in the ultimate long distance match race. In the end, the GREAT Britain team achieved an impressive second place finish in the almost eleven month long distant match race.
The teams got to experience culture galore by stopping in 16 ports throughout the globe, including Sydney, Australia, Qingdao, China, New York City, and Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The Clipper Race teams displayed great skill along with complete composure and strength of mind, all of which were required to complete this challenging round-the-world adventure.
“Land Rover is delighted for the GREAT Britain crew and their incredible 2nd place in this most challenging of races. The sport of sailing and the philosophy of Land Rover go hand in hand, with our shared values of adventure, inner strength and a competitive spirit; said Mark Cameron, Jaguar Land Rover’s Global Brand Experience Director. The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race has been a fantastic initiative and has provided the perfect platform to deepen Land Rover’s involvement in sailing as well as supporting the Government’s efforts to celebrate what is great about Britain overseas.”
Land Rover’s history with competitive sailing dates back to 1988 when the brand first sponsored Cowes Week, and is continuing its investment in sailing as the series main partner of the Extreme Sailing Series, as well as the Official Team Partner and Vehicle Partner to Red Bull Extreme Sailing Team.
